weekend

I was not able to go for a run from Thursday all the way to Sunday due to the beautiful wife being sick with strep throat. No biggie as the beautiful wife and big boy son are the most important things in my life. I was able to get a run in last night between rain storms and loved it. I decided that I was going to take it very easy and enjoy it which I did every second of it. I maintained under a 10 minute pace for the 4 miles which I started out a little tight but loosened up at the turn around. I was able to play a round of golf on Sunday with my neighbor but the fact that I haven't even held a club in over 8 months, I was not very good. Every joint and muscle in my body is hurting bad though from playing golf so I was hoping to work the kinks out of my system, which I think I did.

The big boy had his first sleep over ever on Saturday night and they were so good. I didn't think they would actually go through with the sleep over and when they went to sleep at 10 and didn't wake up until 8:30, I couldn't believe my eyes. Great time and the boys are absolutely wonderful. I unfortunately didn't take pictures so we will have to do it again.

missed weekend run and bike

Didn't do much this past weekend with no running or biking at all. I was planning on going for a long trail run on sunday, but the rain and thunder/lightening made those plans sleep in. I did go for a quick short run last night after cutting the grass. I kept a 9:20ish pace over the 4 miles which felt good. I am feeling a little sore and tight today as a price for doing so much in one day, on a monday as well. I felt bad for not doing anything this weekend though.

I did enjoy some good time with the big boy on saturday and sunday with us walking down to visit his friends in the neighborhood and play. We haven't done that in a while as July was very busy for us. We only hung out for an hour or two but it was good to spend time with them.

even better 6er

Did another 6 miler last night with a feeling that I was strong and ready to pick up the pace. I thought I was going stronger with a much faster pace but all nike+ told me otherwise. I believe I did have a 8:30 mile in the middle of the run with a sense that I could carry that the whole way through. Two great runs back to back is so nice which I am not going to take for granted. Thank you to all! I am missing a trail run some so I think I may go to the trail this weekend for a long one.

I have been following along on the web of Karl Metger's applachian trail assault. He is goign for the speed record of the applachian trail, check it out here.

great 6 mile run

Went for a run last night and was one of the better runs I've had in a long time. I was haiving some intestinal issues all day so I wasn't sure I was going to go. The beautiful wife was planning on being home late after working out but when she cancelled that and was home on time. I debated if I should go or do something else but I decided just go for it. As soon as I started I was feeling pretty good, no issues. I felt strong and good the whole run with an average pace of 9:15ish. I ended up going the 6 mile route backwards around my community. Weather was nice with overcast and temps in the mid to low 80's. I really enjoyed the whole run with only a small issue of a blister on the bottom of my foot, but I didn't let it affect anything.

a small brick

Had a good productive weekend at our house and got lots of small things done that needed to be completed a long time ago. The weather was perfect this weekend which was such a welcomed site. I didn't get any exercise done on saturday but I moved our old entertainment center from upstairs to the battered woman shelter for a donation. All by myself, no help at all with the two six feet tall bookcases and the wood brodge that goes across for a big screen tv. Wasn't bad but it definetely wasn't easy.

I did a small brick workout on sunday with a 4 mile bike ride followed by a 3 mile run. The bike ride wasn't too bad but I know I am really out of shape. The run was good with a small issue of a cramp in my side. Don't know why but I have had a small cramp on the last couple of runs. After the first mile and half, I finished strong with no pain. Maybe I am running to slow in my new shoes. Don't know what the problem is but I am enjoying being out so I don't mind walking or running. I am planning on riding the bike again on wednesday or thursday.

Hope everyone has a good monday. Love and hug your loved ones every chance you get.

New shoes

Had a great weekend even though the big boy is sick and I had a little sinus issues. The big boy and I had lunch with my parents and brothers/sister on the other side of town on saturday. The sears repairman was coming to finish repairing our 2 month old washer machine and I didn't hear from him before we left so I took a chance of missing either lunch or the repair. Quick lunch at Sonic with a hand off of items for me and my brother needing a ride back to his school as my family was headed down to south Florida. As we are leaving sonic enroute to the school 2 exits down the highway, guess who calls, the sears repairman. After dropping the bro off at school, the big boy and I make it home in time for the sears man to come in the house and inform us that it is the wrong piece they ordered! Glad I didn't wait around all day for that waste of time. We spent the rest of the day relaxing at home and playing together.

The beautiful wife and mother-in-law made plans to go to the outlet mall to get the big boy some shoes which I thought would be good to go shopping as well. The big boy gets 3 pair of cool shoes and on the way out, I see a nice pair of running shoes. I haven't had a new pair of running shoes in a long, long time so... I got em and they were really cheap with no sales tax! Got home and attempted to test out the new shoes. Felt amazing the first mile and I haven't had this feeling in a long time. I had a small bottled water with me but was starting to get a cramp just after a mile so I walked and drank some of the water I brought. I walked and ran a 3 mile route with a cramp the whole time but really enjoyed the news shoes. I wasn't feeling great all weekend and have not been properly hydrating and fueling for any runs let alone a humid hot run. I'll try again tomorrow maybe.

back to shorty

Went for a nice short 3 mile run last night with a storm threatening to unleash itself but never did. It was very humid and I was hoping that it would rain to rinse the sweat off of me. When I left work in uptown Charlotte it was like a small 10 minute hurrican had hit and I had to walk my 6 blocks to get to the bus stop. The wind was blowing close to 40 knots I guess and blew me into the street at one point. Sure enough that by the point that we get to our house, not a drop. The run was good though and the legs were a little tight but was happy to get out and get moving. Busy weekend at the home front this weekend that we will enjoy not having any travel plans and staying at home. Much rest is needed after last weekends adventure and a long week of work.
